In foreign countries, composite materials are also used in many parts of ships, including superstructure, masts, propeller propulsion system, chimney, ship bulkhead, etc. Just take fishing boats as an example. In the United States, all offshore fishing boats are made of fiberglass. Japan, Russia, Britain and other countries of the FRP fishing boats accounted for about 90% of the total number of its fleet. It has become a consensus in the international maritime circles to improve the performance of energy conservation and environmental protection, reduce the weight of the ship itself and realize the lightweight of the ship. Huang Zhengang said that only the proportion of glass fiber reinforced plastic composite steel 1/5 ~ 1/6, and mechanical strength of 200 million ~ 400 million mpa, qualitative light, intensity is high, can significantly reduce the ship, its weight and nonmagnetic, has good dielectric properties and microwave wear, corrosion resistance, resistance to sea of biofouling, can absorb energy, good impact toughness, low thermal conductivity, good thermal insulation, etc. At present, with the promotion of energy conservation and emission reduction by the international community and the introduction of new environmental protection maritime regulations by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the global shipping industry is making efforts to achieve low fuel consumption, low emissions and low pollution of ships, among which FRP and its high-performance composite materials have been widely used for their excellent performance.
